Electromechanical Relays

Electromechanical, mechanical or electromagnetic relays are some of the most popular electrical devices for controlled switching and changeover of electrical load circuits. They are used to turn on/off/switch power and signal lines in a wide range of electronic devices, industrial equipment, and relay automation systems.

The relay device includes a control coil (electromagnet) and one or more contact groups mechanically connected to the anchor of the control coil. All design elements are assembled into a certain, standardized housing size. When the control voltage is applied, the electromagnet sets the anchor in motion, which causes a corresponding change in the state of the contact group. Contact groups come in three main configurations: normally open (Normally Open - NO) or normally open; normally closed (Normally Closed - NC) or normally closed; changeover (Change Over - CO) or throw-over.
